POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER

Lília Perfeito

Lília Perfeito is a researcher at the Nova School of Business and Economics.

She spent the past 15 years studying how organisms evolve and adapt to new environments with the goal of predicting that evolution. Lilia completed her PhD in Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência (IGC), followed by a post-doc in the University of Cologne, Germany. She then returned to the IGC where she was a Principal Investigator from 2014 to 2018.

Now, she is applying her skills to tackle an arguably more difficult problem, but which also has much more data available: to predict human behaviour in order to make better decisions, particularly in institutions with important societal impact.

Her current research focuses on characterizing medical prescription data, identifying gender differences in public discourse and improving empirical models to predict high-impact, rare events.

Lília has a degree in microbiology and genetics from Universidade de Lisboa and a PhD in Biology from Universidade Nova de Lisboa – ITQB.
