Joana Gonçalves-Sá appointed European Research Council Ambassador for Portugal

LIP researcher and SPAC coordinator Joana Gonçalves-Sá has been selected to join the European Research Council (ERC) Ambassador network, representing Portugal in this European initiative.

Established in 2025 by the Association of ERC Grantees, in collaboration with the ERC, the network brings together researchers funded by the Council with the aim of strengthening links between the ERC, scientific communities and national policymakers, while promoting frontier research and raising awareness of funding opportunities.

As an Ambassador, Joana Gonçalves-Sá will participate in public events and debates, collaborate with National Contact Points, and contribute to the dissemination of research funded by the ERC.

With her appointment, the network now comprises 37 researchers from across Europe. Portugal’s representation is also being renewed, continuing the work of the country’s founding Ambassador.
