Sara Mesquita
Sara Mesquita is a Ph.D. student in Global Public Health at Nova Medical School, focused on Digital Epidemiology. Sara's academic path went from exploring the microscopic intricacies of cells during her Bachelor's in Biochemistry to tackling macroscopic challenges affecting entire populations through her Ph.D. in Global Public Health. Her current research focuses on enhancing our ability to predict the spread of infectious diseases in complex techno-social systems by integrating dynamic human behaviour into algorithms and predictive models. Currently, she's a visiting researcher at the Civic Data Design Lab at MIT, where she merges science and design through Data Visualization. Sara is also a co-founder of Data Visualization Lisboa, a group dedicated to advancing the field of data visualization in Portugal since 2018.
