Between April and September 2025, the SPAC group welcomed Carlotta Burzio, a student in the Physics of Complex Systems programme at Politecnico di Torino, Italy, who carried out an internship at LIP in Lisbon. To mark her departure, the SPAC group gathered for a farewell get-together, celebrating the months of work and shared experiences.
During her time at LIP, Carlotta worked on “User-Source Interaction Patterns in Misinformation Spread: Analyzing Source Consistency and Source-Topic Relationships in a Fact-Checked Twitter Dataset”, under the supervision of Dr Luca Dall’Asta, Dr Joana Gonçalves-Sá, and Dr Ana Vranić.
Throughout these months, she worked closely with Joana Gonçalves-Sá and Ana Vranić, becoming part of the group’s day-to-day activities and having the opportunity to meet and collaborate with the rest of the team. Beyond research, the experience brought new learning opportunities, collaborations and, above all, new friendships.
